The mammoth triennial EuroShop exhibition returned to Düsseldorf this week (5-9 March 2017), providing a hive of inspiration, innovation and trends. Spread across 18 halls, the 19th edition of the show was divided into seven experiential dimensions.
Here are some of our highlights from across the seven dimensions...
There were plenty of mannequins supporting the ongoing athleisure trend, from companies such as CNL, Window France and Genesis. Several companies also showcased existing collections with new finishes and materials, and more are also utilising the benefits of virtual and augmented reality, as well as 3D printing capabilities.

After the General Store in 2011 and Department Store in 2014, Schweitzer decided not to use a retail format as an inspiration for its booth in 2017. Instead, Schweitzer and Interstore focused on the future of commerce – its visions, technical innovations and new solutions. This year Schweitzer is celebrating 90 years and Interstore 30 years.
Schwitzke presented The Open Retail Trail. Schwitzke displayed its own vision for successful future retail trading. Instead of counting on technical features or digital salvations, the retail experts purposely focused on real and low-tech experiences. The ‘walk-through’ The Open Retail Trail took visitors on a retail journey, highlighting what trade concepts are needed for tomorrow’s retail experience and the possible outcomes that it presents.

Umdasch Shopfitting's stand literally proclaimed 'Curtain up for the shopfitting of the future', demonstrating digital solutions and shopfitting innovations. Short lectures by the Umdasch Shop Academy took place in the cinema area on the company's stand
The Designer Village included six UK design agencies: Fitch, cdw+partners, CADA Design, Dalziel & Pow, rpa:group and Shopworks.

Surfaces & materials
We are seeing customisation continue to be an important factor in retail, and this was evident in Hall 10.
Tarkett celebrated creative expression on a grand scale, with the launch of ID Mixonomi. 'Floor is the new playground' says Tarkett
The company also launched a new LED luminous vinyl flooring range in collaboration with Philips Lighting, which can 'talk' to customers by displaying messages and information to revolutionise retail spaces

Metallics continued to be a popular trend, for surfaces as well as mannequins.

Philips Lighting presented The Street of Dreams, providing visitors with a guided tour to learn about indoor positioning, data analytics and lighting that changes the way people shop
Designed in collaboration with Dalziel & Pow, the Reggiani stand showcased its new proposals – ‘Our bright new ideas’. The Light + Shade concept demonstrated the effect of contrasted light and shadow to create a personal interaction between consumers and a product

Visitors to the Prolight stand had the opportunity to customise their own satchel
POPAI commanded a large space in Hall 3, offering space for members and visitors to relax in the cafe area and listen to speakers in the seminar area.
The POPAI Awards finalists were showcased in a dedicated area of Hall 3.
As well as an array of mobile POS solutions and cash registers, several robots entertained visitors in the technology halls.
