Out & About: The Art of Attention

As part of this year's London Design Festival, Seen Displays took up residence in Old Nichol Street, Shoreditch to host The Art of Attention. Committed to contributing to the physical landscape of retail, Seen Displays tackled the rising epidemic of ‘cognitive overload’ and invited visitors to physically experience the solution.

Guests learnt what cognitive overload is, but more importantly what it isn’t, and how to curate a sensorial, enriched and connective three-dimensional environment.

The workshop began with a virtual reality session – powered by convivial studio and DOV – where two very different store environments were demonstrated and GSR (Galvanic Skin Response) used to measure participants' stress levels.

It was then onto the review board where guests stuck stickers on a giant Q&A board to collate feedback on their experience.

The group then gathered round the table to listen to Seen Displays' founder, Lucy Hackshaw talk through the event and the thinking behind it, followed by a presentation by Moe Krimat, strategic creative director. This armed the group with plenty of information for the next stage.

Kate Vale, business director, then hosted another interactive session which saw participants brainstorm in groups and answer various questions about Gen Z and the way they shop through the neuroscientific and quantifiably effective lens of 'Attention, Connection and Attachment'.
