Electrical retailer Dixons has unveiled a new store design within the Departure Lounge at London's Heathrow Terminal Three. The 204 sq m store introduces a number of new concepts and digital features to Dixons Travel, and is open seven days a week to provide passengers with the chance to purchase the latest technology in time for the first and last flights of the day.
Passengers can also pick and reserve products online before arriving at London’s Heathrow, to ensure they are in stock to swiftly collect and pay for them as they travel through the airport. Passengers can even take advantage of Dixons Travel’s online beating prices and have their purchases delivered straight home after their trip, with or without installation.
Dedicated spaces demonstrate the latest in home, health and sports SMART technology. From controlling Philips hue lighting via an Apple watch, to playing the latest virtual reality game, the retailer can demonstrate it all live on the shop floor.
Not only can passengers try out the latest technology whilst keeping an eye on their flights through dedicated departure screens, but more than 50m of digital signage line the entire internal store perimeter, highlighting tailored offers and explaining the latest tech benefits to improve the shopping experience.
The retailer has implemented a keen focus on service in store. From a welcoming area to sit and charge mobile phones whilst passengers await their flights, to fixing their existing technology, the retailer's recently launched Team Knowhow experts are on hand to advise customers in store.
'We are really excited to be opening this new look store and providing a unique shopping experience designed especially with passengers in mind. Whether you would like a Michael Kors smart watch to track your cycling distance whilst on holiday, need a Dyson hairdryer for that birthday present you forgot whilst you are away, or that Nest thermostat you’ve been thinking about for your own home, we can help you select the device that’s right for you to take away, or have delivered and even set up. We can’t wait to hear what our customers think,' says Heidi Woodhouse, Dixons Travel managing director.
Ben Crowley, head of retail technology for Heathrow, adds: 'As part of a wider plan to revitalise the Terminal 3 experience we have worked with Dixons to create a world leading technology store which will surprise and delight our passengers. Every aspect has been meticulous designed, bringing together cutting-edge design and technology under one roof.'
