The John Lewis Christmas advertising campaign 2018 tells the story of how the gift of a piano inspired and influenced the course of Elton John's life.
The story begins in present day and works backwards chronologically through Elton’s life, right until the moment he received the special gift of his grandmother’s piano.
The campaign includes an experiential space at the Oxford Street store and a musical light show that is projected from the Oxford Street shop windows every 30 minutes from 4pm.
A piano spans the length of the windows to reference Elton John’s piano in the ad. The scheme was produced in collaboration with Harlequin Design.
