When Inplas fabrications look back over the top projects they have worked on, it reads like a ‘who’s who’ of British film, retail brands and entertainment venues. Since setting up in 1995, Inplas fabrications have grown to be one of the most recognised names in Perspex® acrylic fabrication.

Most of us have enjoyed finished projects from Inplas whether it is their work for blockbuster films, high end glazing displays for museum artefacts or retail promotions for leading brands.

Planned celebrations for their 25th anniversary in April 2020 were delayed with the start of Covid-19.  Demonstrating their ability to quickly transform and adapt to the demands around them, Managing Director Trevor Smith was in a position to quickly point their fabrication skillset towards production of bespoke Covid screens for the NHS and retail keyworkers.

With design, creativity and last-minute solutions being at the core of what has driven Inplas for 26 years, it is fitting that they have been able to adapt their business to play an important role in the fight against Covid this year.

“After 25 years of very hard graft and some really high profile work working on the most incredible projects, 2020 was one of our most important and we were humbled to be able to play a small part in the protection of keyworkers and the public through these times.”   Trevor Smith, Director, Inplas

One year on, Trevor and the team are enjoying the return of retail fabrication work once again, Trevor takes us back to some of his favourite retail projects he has enjoyed since the company started.

Amongst the emerging fabric brands in the UK, Yorkshirefabricshop looks like a promising one. It is located in a historic mill in the heart of West Yorkshire, a region known for its rich textile heritage. Our expert team scours the world to curate an extensive collection of fabrics, from textured chenille and tribal patchworks to luxurious velvet animal prints. Offering one of the most comprehensive fabric selections under one roof, we pride ourselves on bringing you a global range of quality materials.

Smith & Sinclair

Edible cocktail brand Smith & Sinclair unveiled a multi-sensory shopping experience at the John Lewis Oxford Street store with the help of some eye-catching Perspex® acrylic displays from Inplas Fabrications in 2017.

With a brief to redefine the retail experience, their design team developed a unique concession to interact with visitors’ senses as well as using a stunning Perspex® acrylic display to showcase their product range.

Inplas designed and fabricated the acrylic display shelving and signage.  12mm thick Perspex® clear sheets were used to create the large cabinets, weighing over 350 kilo’s combined.  Despite its size, delicate mitred and butt joining fabrication techniques were used to create museum quality invisible fixings.

The full range of Perspex® transparent colours were then used to mirror the coloured packaging for each flavour in the Smith and Sinclair range.

Designer Fred Godfrey and his team gave Inplas a glowing reference for the project. “Inplas provide one of the best services of any company I’ve worked with in my trade. The service was impeccable. We were provided with samples of different types of Perspex® colours and finishes. They went out of their way to accommodate us, and even sent a couple of their best fabricators to help on the overnight install. The product was absolutely amazing.  Such high quality. I will never be using anybody else for anything acrylic related.  Inplas will not let you down.”

Samsung

In 2013, Perspex fabricators Inplas helped add a splash of colour to a launch of Samsung’s latest mobile phone.  Working closely with 2Build, Inplas designed and fabricated over 100 Perspex® acrylic balloons for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phone.

Each balloon was made one half at a time by blow moulding a sheet of 3mm coloured Perspex® acrylic into a custom CNC-machine mould. The two halves were then carefully bonded together and polished.

The Perspex® acrylic balloons were created in a range of fabulous colours to match the balloons used in the extensive marketing for the Galaxy S4.  Installation venues included Samsung’s flagship stores and a promotional display at Selfridges in London.

Inplas director Trevor Smith commented “knowing the range and availability of Perspex® acrylic colours we had no problem in bringing the vibrant images from Samsung’s marketing campaign to life.

This is an industry I have now worked in for over 39 years and no 2 days are ever the same.  When I started Inplas fabrications, it really was a step into the unknown however our dedicated team and loyal customer base have helped to push us forward each year.

“It has been fantastic to see the resilience of our customer base and we are really excited to get stuck into our 27th year trading and showcase the talents of our fabrication and design team.”
