Last month Skullcandy launched a new retail experience in their Utah Headquarters. Designed in collaboration with creative studio Checkland Kindleysides, the space offers a one-of-a-kind Skullcandy audio experience.

Progressive yet pragmatic, the space invites the community and early adopters to demo the brand’s latest audio innovations. Designed to act as a work-in-progress R&D playground, Skullcandy can test new products and trial different retail displays pre-launch – harnessing feedback directly from customers and passing it directly onto the sound engineers and retail teams who are based upstairs.

The flagship store operates under Skullcandy’s BORN IN PC give-back program. In effect since 2015, BORN IN PC takes a portion of profits from every locally sold product and invests it back into Park City non-profit programs focused on music, mountain, and board sports education.

The space is located in the brand’s hometown HQ and is one of only two standalone retail spaces the brand has in the world.

Jason Hodell, CEO Skullcandy, said: “Skullcandy was born in Park City in 2003, and we’ve always remained. We wouldn’t be here without this community that inspired us from the beginning, so it makes perfect sense to plant our flagship store right here to honour the Park City community.”

Joe Evans, Creative Director Checkland Kindleysides said: “Our creative vision was to invite people into a backstage experience, bringing to life’s Skullcandy’s ‘music you can feel’ mantra in a multi-dimensional way.”

“The visceral spatial design reflects the independent and irreverent attitude of the brand and its fans.”
